Myers - Briggs (MBTI)
The MBTI is well known for its ability to provide an easy to grasp, non-judgmental understanding of differences in personality that enables:
- Improvements in individual and team performance
- A reduction in workplace conflict
- An atmosphere of understanding and clear communication
- Increased self-awareness in leadership and career coaching
The MBTI demonstrates some of the highest levels of consistency and reliability of any personality assessment product available. The MBTI is the most widely used personality assessment in the world, each year over 2 million assessments are administrated to individuals, often in the context of team building in organisations.
The MBTI assessment offers the following:
- Identifies an individual’s preference for Extraversion (E), or Introversion (I), Sensing (S), or Intuition (N), Thinking (T), or Feeling (F), and Judging (J), or Perceiving (P) – indicated by a four-letter type ‘code’.
- Summarises underlying patterns common to most people of a particular type (of which there are 16 possible combinations).
- Offers dozens of supporting materials to help with a variety of applications, from team building, to managing people in change, to conflict management, leadership development, or career planning and decision making.

Note: On the use of Assessment Tools in Recruitment
We recommend improving your hiring techniques by including assessments as one of the key steps. Assessments alone should not be used as the sole basis for selection.
